First Lady Melania Trump will not be joining her husband, Donald Trump for his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, according to CNN.
Stephanie Grisham, the spokeswoman for the first lady, relayed to CNN that Melania is going to have to skip the trip due to “scheduling and logistical issues.”
Trump will be traveling to a gathering of global elites later in the week, and although Melania was reportedly supposed to be joining him for the trip in a show of support for her husband, according to Grisham, she will no longer be attending to help prop the President up.
In the wake of the government shutdown, it was questionable as to whether or not Trump would be attending the forum; but the White House did make mention that if the shutdown ended prior to his scheduled departure, Trump would commit to going. Trump finally signed a funding bill on Monday night that signalled an end to the government shutdown.
Melania Trump, since January 12th, has not come out to make a public statement, after news of an alleged affair and subsequent payoff from Michael Cohen (Trump’s lawyer), to porn star Stormy Daniels in order to cover up the sexual escapades.
On Saturday, the first lady tweeted an image of herself walking in step with a military escort during Trump’s inauguration ceremony. Melania made no mention of the President by name, despite having posted that the year had been filled with “many wonderful moments,” and Trump was nowhere to be found in the picture she tweeted.
